We would like to explain the permissions including permissions configured the special app access list to perform the actions in JUKUSUI.
Android
Here are permissions on Android devices to use JUKUSUI effectively. You can go to the device settings to turn on/off the permissions. If you don’t want to use any of the features listed below, excepting for the required permissions, you can choose not to enable them.
Microphone
This permission is required to record your snoring. Please grant this permission because this feature is essential for the app's basic operation.
Storage
This permission is required to save downloaded sounds and files on the device and to read the files. Please grant this permission because this feature is essential for the app's basic operation.
Location
This permission is required to get a current location of the device. Location data will be detected when you sign up for our cloud service. The purposes of getting the location data are:
- To investigate user attributes; When you sign up for our cloud service, we will ask you the prefecture you live in if you are in Japan. If you are not living in Japan, we will ask you the country you are in. Your exact address where you live and GPS information are not obtained. The result of this investigation will be used to improve JUKUSUI performance to suggest an appropriate sleep condition for you.
- To adjust the time zone; When you check our website (jukusui.com) on a computer, the time zone will be changed to your local time zone.
The location data received from the app will sent to the cloud service server through the Internet. Regarding privacy, refer to Privacy Policy for more information.
Apps overlay
This permission is required to stabilize sleep logging operations. It allows the app to track your sleep in a stable manner. It says "Apps overlay", but JUKUSUI will not affect other apps. You can also show the alarm ringing screen without waking the device.
Battery Optimization
This permission is required to stabilize sleep logging operations. If you allow this permission, JUKUSUI will be excluded from the device's battery optimization list. When JUKUSUI is working properly, however, the app's power consumption will not increase.
Phone Status
This permission is required to control the sound volume of the app according to the phone's status. If you allow this permission, the volume of Lull Sound and alarms will automatically go down when a call is received or during a call. JUKUSUI only detects the phone status and does not collect any personal information such as the content of call or the telephone number.
Do Not Disturb access
This permission is required to control the silent mode of the device. You will be asked to allow this permission when you turn on "Auto silent mode" in General settings.
Physical activity
This permission is required for logging your sleep automatically.
When "Permission required" is shown in Menu
When “Permission required” is shown in the menu, the required permissions are not granted. If you want to grant them, please select “Permission required” in the menu, tap each item in the list, read the explanations carefully, and grant the permissions.
iOS
Here are permissions on iOS devices to use JUKUSUI effectively. You can go to the device settings to turn on/off the permissions. These permissions are not required. If you don’t want to use any of the features listed below, you can choose not to enable them.
Media & Apple Music
This permission is required to use your iPod sounds you purchased from Apple Music as Alarm sounds and Lull Sound.
Location

Health Access (Optional)
This permission is required to share the sleep log (Bedtime and Wakeup time) with Health App on iOS. You can grant this permission on MENU > General Settings > Connect to Health.
